Lisa Heflin Middleton

Lisa Heflin Middleton passed away on May 16, 2024 at the Barnette Hospice Center in Centreville, MD. She was 54 years old. Lisa was born to the late Jack Haywood and Norma “Jean” (Usilton) Heflin on December 17, 1969 in Fredericksburg, VA. Shortly thereafter they moved to Chesapeake Beach, MD, and spent many weekends with family at her grandparent’s house in Centreville. In the late 1970’s they moved to Centreville where she would remain for the rest of her life. She attended and graduated from Queen Anne’s County High School in 1987 and married her high school sweetheart, Scott Middleton, on Valentine’s Day 1991. She then went on to complete an associates degree at Chesapeake College and graduated from The Macqueen Gibbs Willis School of Nursing in 1994. For many years Lisa worked as a telemetry nurse at Easton Memorial Hospital. For a time she also worked as a home health nurse where she cared for many sick and terminally ill patients in the surrounding area. In the mid-2000’s she joined the team at Hospice of Queen Anne’s, perhaps her favorite and most rewarding job, where again she cared for the terminally ill and dying in the surrounding communities. She was considered an angel by both the staff and her patients. She would later go on to work at HomeCall and then finally joined the Queen Anne’s County Department of Health where she helped run the Community Health Outreach Services. She made many lifelong friends throughout her professional career. Lisa was known for her infectious optimism and positive attitude toward life, and she made an enormous impact on countless lives through her love and kindness. She loved to sing, dance, and laugh with her many friends. She also loved boating, good music, going to the beach, camping, working on home projects, and Michelob Ultra. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family, whom she adored completely. She will live on in the minds, hearts, and memories of all who knew her. Lisa is survived by her husband, Scott Middleton; son, Grayson; daughter and son-in-law Jordan and Jacob Pranger; her sister, Tina Martin and husband Steve (Bryan and Colby), and many friends who considered her to be family. Visitation will be held on Friday May 31, 2024 from 10AM to 1PM and a memorial service at 1PM at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home 408 South Liberty Street Centreville, MD 21617. The memorial service will be directly followed by a celebration of life at Lisa’s home (200 Sparks Mill Rd, Centreville, MD 21617). All are welcome.
