William Howard Kelly

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William H. Kelly, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend. William, fondly known as Bill, was born on March 8, 1941, in Bel Air, Maryland, and passed away peacefully in Chestertown, Maryland. Bill was the cherished son of Howard and Anna Kelly, who instilled in him the values of integrity, kindness, and the importance of community, qualities that would define his life. He was a man who could relate to anyone and had an extraordinary gift for engaging with people, always ready to lend an ear or share a story. Bill's educational journey began at St. Margaret Elementary in Bel Air, followed by his formative years at Loyola High School Blakefield and Loyola College in Baltimore. For 37 years, Bill dedicated himself to the Xerox Corporation, where he was respected and admired by colleagues and clients alike for his dedication and work ethic. After retiring from Xerox, he enjoyed a fulfilling period working at Redman Farms, especially at the Chestertown Farmers’ Market, where he could indulge in his love for the outdoors. Bill had a lifelong passion for hunting and fishing, pursuits that allowed him to connect with nature and find peace. His enthusiasm for these hobbies was infectious, and he often shared these experiences with family and friends. Bill was also an active member of the Kent Ruritan Club, where he contributed generously of his time and talents. Family was the cornerstone of Bill's life. He was blessed with a loving marriage of 62 years to his devoted wife, Barbara. Bill was the proud father of Amy Mongelluzzo (Lewis), William Kelly II (Sheryl), and Melinda Miller (Christopher). He adored his grandchildren—Grace, Ryan, Lauren, Kelly, James, and Luke—who brought immense joy to his life and whom he cherished deeply. Bill's life will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Parish. Visitation will be held from 5-7pm on October 25, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 11am. Interment will be held privately. As we grieve his passing, we also remember the warmth, laughter, and wisdom he shared with all who were fortunate enough to know him. Bill will be remembered as a man of great character, gentle humor, and unwavering love for his family and community. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched and through the countless stories of his kindness and generosity. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Bill's memory with donations to International Society of Multiple Myeloma (myeloma.org).
