William E. Nagel

William E. Nagel of Chestertown, MD, formerly of Catonsville, MD, died on November 3, 1999, at Kent and Queen Anne''s Hospital. He was 80. He was born in Ilchester, MD, on November 2, 1919, the son of the late William E. and Eva May Lowe Nagel. He attended high school in Howard County, MD, and started working at a young age. He then began his career as a plumber with his uncle and worked in the shipyards as a welder. Mr. Nagel served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman during WWII in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. Upon his honorable discharge in 1946, Mr. Nagel returned to Maryland and continued his career as a welder/ plumber in the Baltimore area. He was predeceased by his first wife, Eleanor M. Nagel, and, in 1983, Mr. Nagel retired. He married Betty Raye Bare Wilson Nagel in 1984, and they lived in Kinnaird Point in Worton, MD. Mr. Nagel was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chestertown, the Frank M. Jarman American Legion Post #36, and Great Oak Country Club. Mr. Nagel's longtime passion was bowling, but he also enjoyed golfing, boating, crabbing, and especially seeing his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two stepchildren, Lloyd Lee Wilson of Norfolk, VA, and Damon William Wilson of Hamptonville, NC; three brothers, Earl Nagel of Perry Hall, MD, George and John Walker both of Baltimore, MD; two sisters, Margaret Wade of Finksburg, MD, and Shirley Pendleton of Ellicott City, MD; three grandchildren, Brett Gordon, Brooks Clifton, and Asa V.C. Wilson; two aunts, Marie Lowe Ash of Ellicott City, MD, and Clara Lowe Linthicum of Baltimore, MD; along with a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Sunday November 7, 1999, at 2:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Chestertown. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, November 6, 1999, between the hours of 7 and 9 p.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Rd., in Chestertown. Interment will be on Monday, November 8, 1999, at 11 a.m. at Meadowridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O.
