Thomas J. Healy Jr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Thomas J. Healy of Easton MD. died on December 28, 2007 at the Talbot Hospice House. He was 80. Born on February 16, 1927 in Baltimore, MD; he was the son of the late Thomas J. And Anna Zimmerman Healy. After graduation from Mount Saint Joseph High School in Baltimore, MD in 1945, he served in the United States Air Force during World War II. Following release from active duty he played for the New York Yankees farm team in the Eastern Shore league. He began working at Preston trucking and continued a life long career in the trucking industry from 1948 until his retirement in 1996 as CEO of his own company Services Warehouse & Distribution. Mr. Healy who was affectionately known by many as Heals, Poppy, Lucky and Pop-Pop was and avid sports fan. He loved watching and supporting the Severna Park Hornets softball team and watching his grandchildren play in all of there sporting events. He loved to play golf and visit Ireland. He was a life member of the Easton Elks lodge #1622, VFW post #5118 and a past member of the Caroline County Club. He is survived by his wife the former Nancy Cottingham, whom he married September 8, 1973, five children Donna Clem and her husband Darrin of Oxford, Barbara Hope of Easton, Thomas Healy III “ Mooch’‘ and his wife Susanne of Easton, Paula Broll and her husband Kevin of Easton, Shelley Chance and her husband Jay of Easton. A sister Margie Mullaney of Baltimore, 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 1 sister and 1 brother. Services will be held at the St. Marks United Methodist Church on Thursday January 3, 2008 at 11 am. Friends may call on Wednesday January 2, 2008 from 6-8pm at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam funeral home in Easton MD. Burial will be at Oxford cemetery in Oxford, Md.
