Teresa Lynn Elben DVM

Teresa Lynn Elben, DVM, died at her home in Cordova, MD on March 28, 2005, at the age of 43, from melanoma cancer. Dr. Elben was born July 12, 1961 in Catonsville, MD. Terry was the loving wife of Michael W. Elben, whom she married on February 2, 2001, and the youngest daughter of Paul Higgins and the late Mazie Higgins of St. Michaels. In 1971, Terry and her family moved to Talbot County and resided at “Ferrybridge” on the Miles River. After graduating from Easton High School, Terry went on to graduate from Frostburg State University and also participated in the student exchange program at the University of Finland in Helsinki, Finland. For eight years Terry worked as a flight attendant with US Air. In 1993 Virginia Tech accepted her into their Veterinary Medicine program. Terry did her pre-med studies at the University of Maryland and the University of Delaware and graduated from Virginia Tech with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Elben enjoyed practicing at the Queenstown Veterinary Hospital. Her lifetime hobby was her animals. Terry and her husband, Mike, had especially enjoyed traveling and local trail riding, and presently have several horses, ponies, cats and dogs. Terry and Mike were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Samantha Cooper, on July 19, 2004. She is also survived by her two step-children, Michel and Mitchell Elben; her father, Paul Higgins; her brothers, Mark Higgins, David Higgins, and Bill Higgins; her sisters, Susan Sullivan, Tricia Higgins, Chrissi Meeks, and Marnie Webster; twenty nieces and nephews; and her childhood friend, Norma Lee Todd. We would like to thank her many friends that gave her so much love, kindness, help, and prayers during her illness. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 4, 2005 at 3:00 PM at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Easton. Friends may call prior to the service between 1:00 and 3:00 PM. Interment will be private.
