Suzanne Potter Lourie

Suzanne Potter Lourie of Easton, MD died on Monday, July 24, 2006 at William Hill Manor, Easton. She was 88. Born June 15, 1918 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Clark Berry and Louise Frances Taylor Potter. After graduating from Ann Arbor High School in 1935, she attended the University of Michigan. Upon graduation in 1940, she became a flight attendant with Pennsylvania Central Airlines, which later became Capitol Airlines, until her marriage on May 23, 1942 to Archibald Lourie, at which time they resided in Annapolis. Mr. Lourie died July 10, 1958. A Queen Anne’s County resident since 1961, Mrs. Lourie was first employed by Wye Institute that later became a part of Aspen Institute. She subsequently became a psychiatric social worker with the State of Maryland at Eastern Shore Hospital Center and Upper Shore Community Mental Health Center. In 1978 she was awarded her Master of Social Work degree from her Alma Mater. She retired in 1986. In 2000 she moved to Easton, residing at Heartfields, William Hill Gardens, Talbot Hospice House, and Marvel Hall at William Hill Manor. Mrs. Lourie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother great-grandmother and friend. She will be remembered for her smile and her love of children and animals. She is survived by her two daughters, Melissa Lourie of Easton, and Kathleen Moore and her husband Jack of Centreville; her son, Stephen Lourie of Baltimore; her granddaughter, Amy Connolly Renshaw and her husband David of Denton; her great-grandson, Jack Patrick Connolly of Denton; her brother, W. Taylor Potter and his wife Angelique of Marchainville, France; a nephew, Marshall; and nieces, Jessica, Nanette, Amanda, Kate and Anna. Friends may call on Thursday, July 27, 2006 from 6 to 8 PM at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., Easton, MD. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 28, 2006 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Centreville, MD. Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 28, 2006 at 12:30 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery, Annapolis, MD.
