Dr. Rogelio Villanueva Villaruz

Easton: Dr. Rogelio Villanueva Villaruz, beloved husband of Dr. Amelia Cosca Villaruz, was called home by God on August 18, 2017. Rogelio was the son of Emilio Domingo Villaruz and Marcelina Villanueva Villaruz, who preceded him in death. Rogelio was born on March 31, 1940 in Pasay City, the Philippines. He attended High School at LaSalle College in Manila, received a degree in Liberal Arts from the University of the Philippines, and graduated from Medical School at the University of the East in Manila in 1968. Rogelio practiced medicine in General Trias, Cavite, Philippines upon graduation. He immigrated to the United States in 1972 completed a Surgical Internship at Prince George's Hospital Center in Cheverly, Maryland, then finished a residency in Psychiatry at Central Islip Hospital in Long Island, New York. Rogelio went on to practice psychiatry at Crownsville Hospital Center, Prince Georges Hospital Center, along with several other locations in Prince George's County, and also had a private practice in Bowie, Maryland. He retired to Easton, Maryland in 2006. Rogelio was a family man who enjoyed do-it-yourself projects, landscaping, house maintenance and car maintenance. He loved to go fishing, watch Notre Dame Football, going to see movies, going on trips to see family and friends, drinking Scotch, and cooking/eating hearty meals with people whose company he enjoyed. Above all, Rogelio loved his family and lived his life for them. Rogelio was also a practicing Catholic and a parishioner at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Easton, Maryland. Rogelio is survived by his wife, Dr. Amelia Cosca Villaruz, his children Dr. AlChristian Cosca Villaruz, Dr. Amer Emilio Villaruz (Chun), Aaron Cosca Villaruz, MBA (Michelle), and Dr. Liza Cosca Villaruz-Ng (Jason); along with his loving grandchildren Bethany, Amelia, Sophia, Mary, Adam, Augustine and Julian. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 1210 S. Washington St., Easton. Burial will be private.
