Robert "Bob" Thomas Healy

Our dad, Bob Healy, born on June 16, 1937, left us on October 25, 2025. A remarkable man who cherished his family deeply. He was a loving and devoted husband to Doris, his partner and confidant. Bob was born and raised in Elizabeth, N.J. Upon graduation from high school, he entered the Air Force and served six years. After leaving the service, he was employed by the National Weather Service, at which time he met his beloved Doris, and they married soon afterwards. He graduated summa cum laude from the Washington Institute of Technology and was employed as a safety engineer until his retirement. Bob joined the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. He also became very devoted and attentive to his church-parish community, teaching CCD and helping to live stream masses. His kindness and willingness to help give back to the community reflected the depth of his character and his passion for making a difference in the lives of others. In the 1980s, Bob discovered his love for triathlons. He dove into this new hobby with vigor, excelling and winning numerous awards. His other hobbies included doing daily crossword puzzles, and he'd solve them with the same tenacity he applied to his races. One of the things we will remember most about our dad is his incredible memory. He could recall the details of where and when he bought a particular piece of clothing, and how much he paid for it, down to the last cent. This gift of memory extended beyond just material things; it also included the memories he created with us all. Bob and Doris adored their daughters, Diane Bowen Xander and Kathleen Ann Young; Diane's late husband, Mark Xander; Kathleen's husband, Michael Young; as well as their grandchildren, Christopher and Jasen Xander and Dagen and Connor Young. Bob also adored his great grandchild, Caleb Mark Xander, and Christopher's wife, Brenna Fahey Joesting. Many moments, filled with laughter and joy, are treasures that his family will hold dear forever. He was also a big brother to Kathleen Doyle, the late Diane Mitchell, and Donald Healy. Their bond was one of mutual love and support. Bob was more than just a husband, father, brother, and family man, he was a mentor, a friend, and a source of joy. Bob's legacy of love, kindness, and joy will forever remain in our hearts. We celebrate the man he was and the lives he touched. A Mass will be held at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church, 1861 Harbor Drive, Chester, Maryland 21619, on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please and please consider making a donation in Bob’s name to Dominican Nuns, St. Dominic’s Monastery, 2636 Monastery Road, Linden, VA 22642. A beloved peaceful chapel where Bob and his family celebrated Mass with the Nuns whenever they were visiting the area. Thank you, Dad, for everything. You will be deeply missed.
