Robert "Bob" Ganz

Robert W. Ganz Jr. (Bob) of Naples Florida and formerly of Stevensville, MD, passed away on August 11,2025 following a brief illness at the age of 66. The son of the late Ida Lucille and Robert W. Ganz Sr., Bob was born and raised in Severna Park and graduated from Severna Park High School in 1978. Bob’s passion was the fire service, and he joined the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company in 1976 and was approaching his 50th year of service. He was a past company president having served in that role for seven years and also held several other positions. He was awarded “Life membership” for his service. His efforts were focused on fundraising, and he was instrumental in modernizing the fire company’s fleet in the 80’s and 90’s and in the acquisition of additional property for the company. He was also credentialed as both a firefighter/apparatus driver and was a certified EMT for over 20 years. Professionally, Bob was employed by the Anne Arundel Medical Center for over 40 years, beginning at the old hospital in downtown Annapolis and retiring in 2021. He served as a senior analyst in the IT department. Bob was instrumental in forwarding many IT improvements throughout the hospital system and was fondly known by his co-workers as “Skip.” Bob married Debbie, the love of his life, in 1996 and they lived for many years on Kent Island until retiring to Naples, Florida in 2021. In Naples, Bob and Debbie had many friends and Bob assisted many in the neighborhood with landscaping and earned the title of the “weed guy.” He enjoyed the Southwest Florida lifestyle and was an avid fisherman, gardener and enjoyed the area beaches along with Debbie. Bob is survived by his wife of 29 years, Debbie, Guy, his stepson and by sisters Diane Ziegler, and Roberta Staley as well as several nieces and nephews.
