Robert "Bob" F. Montano

Robert Francis “Bob” Montano, 72, of Woolford, Maryland, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025, at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center in Easton, in the arms of his loving and devoted wife, Suzanne. Born in Utica, New York, to the late Frank Montano and Jean Capraro, Bob graduated from Notre Dame High School before earning his bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University and an MBA from Loyola University Maryland. A dedicated and accomplished engineer, Bob built a successful career managing complex projects and leading teams with skill, integrity, and vision. Bob married Suzanne Corinne Dawson in 2022, and together they created a warm, blended family rooted in love, laughter, and the simple joys of life. He was known for his great sense of humor, quick wit, and ability to make everyone around him smile. Together they enjoyed bicycling, sailing, hiking, golfing, traveling, theater, music, and spending time with family and friends. An avid painter, Bob filled his home with his beautiful landscapes, cityscapes, and beach scenes, sharing his creativity generously through the many works of art he gifted to loved ones. His faithful Bernedoodle, Rocco, was always by his side. Bob is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Suzanne Montano; his children, Robert J. Montano and wife Caitlin of Montgomery Village, MD; Dr. Michael A. Montano of Macon, GA; and Michele Johnson and husband Daniel of Richmond, VA; as well as his stepchildren, Dr. Patrick T. Dawson and Jaafar Aslan of Atlanta, GA; George and Victoria Dawson of Denver, CO; Jeff Dawson and Kristen Dawson of Franklin, TN; and Page Jagielski of Baltimore, MD. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Skye and Charlotte, and step-grandchildren Luke, Aiden, Emerson, Ainsley, and Callie Corinne. He is further survived by his siblings, Fran (Angela) Montano and Kathy Pendleton; brothers-in-law Thomas (Kim) Spock and Peter Spock; and sisters-in-law Lizanne Spock and Kristen (Craig) Park. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Jean Montano, and by his former wife, Laura Montano. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held in December 2025 in Washington, D.C., with details to be announced. A memorial service will follow in 2026.
