Rena Cecilia German

Rena Cecilia “Winnie” German of Ocean City, MD formerly of Queen Annes County passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 8, at the Chester River Hospital Center with her family by her side. She was 79 She was born on February 6, 1932 in Baltimore, MD daughter of the late Michael and Lottie Grain Clark. She graduated from Seton High School in Baltimore, MD, class of 1950 where she excelled in basketball. She married Garrett German on January 26, 1952 at the Monastery Church in Baltimore. Mrs. German worked many years in her father’s trucking business, Hart and Clark Transfer Company and was Vice President of Garrett Electrical Contractors which she started with her husband. In 1976 they relocated the business, now called Garrett German and Sons Electrical Contractors from Baltimore to the Eastern Shore. Mrs. German loved Ocean City Maryland where she and her family vacationed for many years. She and her husband resided in Kent Island Estates until retiring to Ocean City in 1997. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Woodlawn, MD and was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed ten pin bowling, growing roses and flowers and loved all animals. In addition to her husband of 59 years, she is survived by her four children and their spouses; Terry and Paul Coughlin of Stevensville, MD, Patty and Glenn Schwink of Stevensville, MD, Garry German of Woodlawn, MD, and Clark and Christina German of Church Hill, MD, six grandchildren and their spouses; Eric and Mary Maier, Chris and Laura Schwink, David and Soosie Maier, Tyler German and his sister Kallie German, four great grandchildren; Aiden, Audria, Kai and Noah Maier, her sister, Patricia Trusheim, her brother, Michael Clark and her devoted sister in law Bernie German as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was pre deceased by her grandson, Michael Clark Schwink, three brothers and a sister. “Mom was like a fragile little bird who could take off and fly and land on her own two feet. She left this world with a smile.” A celebration of her life will be held for family and friends and will be announced at a later date.
