Novella Hines

Mrs. Novella Hines of Chestertown, MD died on Thursday, December 6, 2001. She was 88 years old. Born in Millington, she was the daughter of the late William Fletcher and Martha Thomas Yates. Mrs. Hines attended school in Philadelphia, PA and The Sandfield School in Millington, MD. During her working career, Mrs. Hines, had worked for Vita Foods in Chestertown, MD, Lees Travel Ware in Smyrna, DE, and later became a Health Care Provider. She was the owner and operator of Hines convalescent Homein the Pondtown area of Chestertown, MD. In her spare time she liked to play the piano, and was active in the Crumpton Senior Center. Mrs. Hines was active in both John Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church of Millington and Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church in Pondtown, MD. She loved playing the piano and sang in the John Wesley Choir. Mrs. Hines is survived by a daughter-in-law, Elaine Comegys of Philadelphia, PA; an Uncle, Clinton Roosevelt Seeney of Millington; a niece,Ellen Thompson Cook of Millington and a nephew, Edward Thompson of Wilmington along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren; Eloise Chevere and her husband David of Chestertown, MD, James D. Comegys of Philadelphia, PA, Rosalind Comegys of Sudlersville, MD, Keith Comegys of Cambridge, MD, Anthony Comegys of Salisbury, MD and Veronica Comegys of Philadelphia, PA, along with 16 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Mrs. Hines was preceded in death by her husband, Reese Donald Hines in 1989, a son, James Lorraine Comegys in 1967, two sisters, Dorothy Yates Lowe and Ethel Mae Thompson and a brother, John Yates. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 14, 2001 at 1:00 PM from John Wesley Church, Millington, MD. Relatives and friends may call 2 hours prior to service (11:00 AM to 1:00 PM).
