Jordan Mariah Baker

On the February 5, 2023, Jordan Mariah Baker of Kent Island, MD, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 47. Jordan was born in Easton, MD, to Holly Ewing Baker and Wheeler Baker on June 3, 1975. Throughout most of her life, she worked at the family business, Bakers Liquors in Chester, MD. She was a bright light and greeted everyone that walked into the store with the brightest smile. She also spent many years volunteering for the Chesterwye Dinner Auction, alongside her father, Wheeler Baker. Many that knew Jordan could rely on her effervescent personality and count on her to bring a smile to any situation. Growing up on the Eastern Shore, Jordan loved spending summers in Ocean City, MD, with her cousins. If she was outdoors, her world felt complete, especially when she was in her flower garden. Jordan also had a passion for cooking, although, quite often she created her own recipes. She always felt variety was the spice of life, as you never got the same recipe twice. Jordan filled any room she was in with music; she knew every verse to every song, and was always the first one on the dance floor and the last one off. She was the true dancing queen. She is survived by her children, Regan Baker and Peyton Songer; her siblings, Jason Baker (children, Lindsey, Caden, Isabella, and Olivia Baker), Gideon Archey (Sydney Archey), and Katie Long (Jory Long); her closest friend, Laura Chaney; and countless other loved ones. She went to school at Queen Anne’s County High School and graduated with the Class of 1993. Life is a book made up of many chapters that define our lives. Jordan's youthful years were her best chapters; those are the chapters that she will be remembered the most. In the final chapters, she found it difficult managing some of life's hardships. She made positive attempts to overcome those hardships, but it proved to be too difficult for her. Her family misses her freckled smiles and curly mop of hair beyond measure already. Never let Jordan's spirit fade from your heart; think about her when you sing, cook, dance, and, during quieter moments, sitting on the beach.
