James Henry Elburn Sr.

James (Pop/Jimmy/Jim) Henry Elburn Sr. (90) of Sudlersville, Md, passed Sunday July 19,2026. He was born June 15th, 1936, in Chestertown, MD to the late William Elburn and Jesse Brooks Elburn. James was a graduate of the Sudlersville High School. After graduation he joined the Army in October of 1956. During his military service, he was a SP4 in the Signal Core and later joined the Fire Dept. Section called Hunter Liggett Military Reservation. After discharge in October 1959, he returned to Chestertown MD where he delivered flowers for Elburn Florist. Later he was employed by Baltimore Business forms as a printer. He also worked for Queen Anne’s County Public Schools as an overnight janitor at Queen Anne’s County High School. Later in life he worked for Queen Anne’s County Public Works as a transfer state employee. Throughout his life he enjoyed growing flowers to plant around his home. He also loved decorating the farm for Christmas holidays. However, his most cherished times were spent socializing with his many friends that he had met over many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Betty Lucille Winterstein Elburn, brother William Walter Elburn Jr., half-brother Randy Bland and daughter Molly Beth Elburn Wolfe (Greg). He is survived by his sister, Nancy M. Elburn Memolo of Elizabeth City NC, Sons; James Henry Elburn Jr. (Becky) of Sudlersville, MD, and David Nelson Elburn (Sandra) of Sudlersville MD. Jimmy was also a beloved father figure to Kevin Tyler Greenwood (Meshell) of San Antonio TX. He also leaves behind his grandchildren; Walter, Ashley (Mark), Katherine (Matt), William (Lydia), Stephen (Carley), Lauralye (Scott), Tyler (Sara), and Tyrell. He further leaves behind his great grandchildren; Hunter, Wyatt, Aubrey, Lane, Harper, Raelynn, Eian, William, Ava, Phillip, Remington, and Elijah. The family would also like to remember the many special people that made his life complete. Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Fellows Family Funeral Home on Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. A funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m., followed by interment at Sudlersville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Compass Regional Hospice in memory of James Elburn Sr.
