Dr. Jack Hutton Bishop Jr.

Dr. Jack Hutton Bishop, Jr., 81, of Oxford, Maryland, passed away on April 13, 2026. Born on July 27, 1944, in Washington, D.C., Jack was the son of Mary Simon Bishop and Jack Hutton Bishop, Sr., and a proud Prince George’s County native. He was the grandson of the Honorable Cecil William (CW Runt) Bishop (U.S. House of Representatives, Southern Illinois) and Elizabeth Hutton Bishop of Carterville Illinois; and Jack Henry Simon and Ica Delaney Simon of Fairmont, West Virginia. His life was marked by devotion—to his family, his profession, his community, and the many passions that enriched his days. Jack graduated from Bladensburg High School in 1962, where he excelled both academically and athletically. A standout in basketball and football, he was a member of the celebrated 1962 Bladensburg basketball team that went undefeated before falling in the state championship at Cole Field House. His talent on the court led him to Albright College, where he continued playing basketball while pursuing pre med studies before ultimately discovering his calling in dentistry. He went on to earn his dental degree from the University of Maryland Dental School, forming lifelong friendships with Dr. David Hill and Dr. William Houck. In 1969, Jack enlisted in the Army Dental Corps, proudly serving for two years. Following his discharge, he practiced dentistry in New Jersey before settling in Maryland, ultimately making his home in Easton and later Oxford. As a dentist, Jack was known for his skill, compassion, and unwavering integrity. He cared deeply for his patients and believed in treating everyone with respect and kindness. Jack’s interests extended far beyond his professional life. He was an avid golfer, had a stint as practitioner of white crane kung fu, and someone who cherished time spent with family and friends. His curiosity and warm spirit shaped every part of his life and left a lasting impression on all who knew him. In 1993, Jack met the love of his life, Pamela (Link) Bishop, and married 3 years later. Their bond was immediate and enduring, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and deep companionship. Jack is survived by his beloved wife Pamela; his son Todd William Bishop (Katie); his daughter Jill Bishop; his sister Sarah Mayock (Pat); and his brother Bill Bishop (Bobbie). He is also survived by his grandchildren Brooke Bishop, Ashley Hayden (Joey), and Emilie Todd; and by his great grandchildren Amanda, Audrey, Alexis, Elena, Aacelia, Remy, Jolie, Jose, Presley, Jacklynn, and Marley. His nieces and nephews—Jason, Adam, Will, Pam, Beau, and Matt, and their spouses—held a special place in his heart. Jack dearly loved his family, and the feeling was mutual; his presence, humor, and steady support will be deeply missed. A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, located at 200 S. Harrison St., Easton, Maryland. Jack’s life was one of purpose, generosity, and devotion. His legacy lives on in the many people he touched, the family he adored, and the countless moments of kindness he offered throughout his 81 years.
