J. Michael Warring

I thank Joe Warring for marrying Teresa Maulding; and them becoming my parents in 1941. I thank them for my siblings: sister Sugie Warring and brother Jimmy (Linda) Warring. I thank Sugie for always sharing with me, and I thank Jimmy for being the best drummer in our band “The Good Times.” I, of course, was the lead singer and accordion player. I thank my Brother Rats and instructors who helped me survive and thrive in the military environment of VMI for the four years I attended there, and then served in the US Army. I thank Camille Codirenzi, who became my wife and the mother of our three children: Joseph (Kelly) Warring, Stephanie (Pete) Wilson and Michael Warring. Though I never told them enough, they were the best part of all that I ever accomplished. I thank my seven grandchildren: Madeline, John, Grace, Caroline, Sammi, Peter and Abby for the fun times we had at birthday celebrations, cookouts and visits. And I thank Maddy (7) and Grace (3) for the extra gift of Great Grandchildren! I thank the forward thinking business leaders who mentored me in my early working years as they forged ahead with new home communities and land development projects in the Washington DC region. I thank the men who became my business partners and those who worked with us to make our company a top consulting and engineering firm in Maryland. I thank my second wife Elinor Whaley for introducing me to living on the Eastern Shore. From our cottage in Centreville to our home on Greenwood Creek and then our home in Queenstown she was always the one who took care of the lawn, so I could play golf without a worry in the world. I thank Elwood and Peggy Thompson, former property owners where Oyster Cove sits today, for having faith in my vision and ability to get the proper approvals to create the community as it exists now. It’s more beautiful in 2025 than it was when we sold our first villas in 1984. I thank all the friends I’ve made through the years – either through work efforts with the County Engineers Association or golfing, where I garnered the name “Commish” for my Saturday morning tee time pairings. I thank my travel golf buddies for the Myrtle Beach memories, where we reverted to elementary school level pranks on one another. I thank all the couples who travelled with Elinor and me when we went on golf vacations –Bermuda, Mexico, Dominican Republic, and Costa Rica. Who Let The Dogs Out?! After being diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease and Lewy Body Dementia I joined the YMCA sponsored Rock Steady Boxing for movement therapy. I have not doubt the leaders – Lyn Sutton and Wendy Palmer – were key in keeping me motivated which extended my days on this earth. Lastly, I thank those special folks on staff at Bayleigh Chase who took care of me these past 31 months. It’s been a terrific journey, filled with all sorts of adventures, highs and lows, laughs and tears, heartbreak and love. And through it all My Catholic faith has sustained me. As I depart this earthly realm I just have one question: “can I have a mulligan?”. Services will be private and a gathering will be held at a later date.
