Gail Louise Middleton

Gail Louise Middleton was born on May 18, 1940. She was the daughter of the late Lenora Parker Howard. She grew up in Lansdowne, MD, and moved to Centreville, MD and graduated from Centreville High School Class of 1958. She married George “Toby” W. Middleton on June 21, 1958; they resided in Centreville where she worked for Fox’s Five and Dime, the Family Shoe Store and the Furniture Store for Herby Goldstein. After Mr. Middleton returned from active duty in the Army, they moved to Wye Mills where they owned and operated the Wye AAMCO at the intersection of Wye Mills and Route 50 from 1959 to 1965. They moved to Skipton, MD where she raised the family until they were off to school and with her being active in the PTA she was asked to assist with the school substituting at the Upper County School in Cordova, MD. Working in the library she stayed for 20 years; the school is now known as Chapel District Elementary School. She then went to Easton Elementary to assist as a teacher’s aid in kindergarten, later she went to Trappe Elementary to work as the Media Center Manager retiring in 2002. She enjoyed traveling throughout North America with her husband, especially their trips to Alaska. They love to see the county that God painted. She also enjoyed reading, crocheting and gardening. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, George “Toby” Middleton; two sons, George “Doby” W. Middleton, Jr., and his wife Linda, of Cordova, and Kevin B. Middleton and his wife Carol, of Denton. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jason Middleton, Shaun Middleton, Janice Middleton and Karen Middleton; 4 great grandchildren, Jonas, Miles, Oliver and Heidi, and a sister, Patricia Ruhe. Along with her mother, she is preceded in death by her sister, Judy Nash and brothers, Glenn Price and Terry Price. The family will receive guests and friends on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home from 6pm until 8pm, and again on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, from 10am until 11am. A funeral service at the funeral home will begin at 11am on Tuesday. Interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Easton will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gail’s memory are suggested to the Wye Mills United Methodist Church, PO Box 6, Wye Mills, MD 21679.
