Franklin Eugene Jewell

Franklin Eugene Jewell, “Frank,” peacefully passed away at the age of 93 on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Resorts at Chester River Manor in Chestertown, MD. Born and raised in Grasonville, Maryland on August 20, 1932, Frank was the son of the late Walter Franklin Jewell and Hilda Mae Jewell. Frank honorably served on active duty in the United States Army between December 1952 and December 1954. During his period of service, he was involved in the Korean War. On April 2, 1956, Frank married the love of his life, Marie Antonia (deRooy) Jewell. They established themselves in Queenstown, Maryland. Frank primarily worked for Greenspring Dairy for 42 years. After retiring in 1994, he dedicated his time to his family by caring for his grandchildren and supporting his sons’ careers as watermen. He was also an avid gardener and enjoyed hosting his family for home cooked meals with his produce and seafood. Frank had a lasting impact on the Queenstown community. He joined the Queenstown Volunteer Fire Department at 14 years old and eventually became a Life Member for his dedication, serving for 79 years. He was also a member of the American Legion. In his spare time, Frank would drop everything to help his family and fellow neighbors when they needed it, from feeding his loved ones to mowing his neighbors’ lawns to volunteering at the QVFD Annual Fair. His consistent dedication to his family, friends, and neighbors was recognized by the Town of Queenstown in 2015 when he was named Resident of the Year. Frank is survived by his children: Wayne (Marcia), Dan (Sally), Pam, Ann (Mark), Phil (April); 10 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; and his brothers, Roy, Joe, and Donnie. Special thanks to Heavenly Hands Senior Care and Resorts at Chester River Manor for their support during his final months. A private service will be held with Frank’s family at Woodlawn Memorial Park on Wednesday, February 5, 2026, where his cremated remains will be interred. Friends, family, and community members are invited to a celebration of life for both Frank and Marie on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at 1:00PM at the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department.
