Faye Foster Hughes

Faye Foster Hughes passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023. Faye was 91 years old. Faye was born in Easton, MD, on November 4, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Earle Thomas Foster, Sr. and Ruth Faulkner Foster. After attending public school in Easton and marrying William Hughes, Faye became employed with the C & P Telephone Company for a few years. Faye had three children with William; Carolyn, William and Daniel. In 1973, Faye was employed by Moore’s Lumber Company in Easton. She worked her way up from retail sales to contractor sales and eventually to Contractor Manager. Before retiring from Moore’s in 1996, Faye earned several sales awards including Top Salesperson not only in her store, but in the region. A lifelong resident of Easton, Faye was a member of the Easton Church of God, which her father helped establish, and she was deeply rooted in its growth. Her favorite activities were anything involving her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, especially camping, fishing, and hunting. Faye later married Richard Holmes and was fortunate to celebrate a 10-year anniversary together before he passed in 2021. Faye is survived by a daughter, Carolyn D. Johnson (Charlie) of Easton; two sons, William M. Hughes, Jr. (Catie) of Easton and Daniel E. Hughes (Diane) of Cold Spring, NY; one brother, Donald D. Foster of Easton; one sister-in-law, Ellen Marie Foster who has been like a sister to her; six grandchildren, Casey Johnson, Kimberly Gibbons-Neff (Henner), Mitchell Hughes (Sarah), Lindsay Long (Richie), Matthew Hughes (Hailey) and John Hughes (Letti); and eleven great-grandchildren! Faye was predeceased by her parents, Earle and Ruth Foster; three brothers, Earle T. Foster, Jr, A. Glendon Foster, and Arthur L. Foster; and her husband, Richard Holmes. Faye had a strong faith in God and her life was an example to all of her family and friends. The family wants to extend a very special thank you to Ludwig Eglseder, Faye’s physician. Luddy has been an extraordinary physician and friend to the Hughes family. There will be a visitation for family and friends at the Easton Church of God on Thursday, April 13 from 10 a.m. -12 noon. The funeral will follow immediately after. A graveside service will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery in Easton, MD. There will be a reception at the Family Life Center at the Easton Church of God after the burial.
