Dexter Case Sr.

Dexter Randolph Case, Sr. of Stevensville, MD died Sunday, October 12, 2003 at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore, MD. He was 60. Born on July 17, 1943 in Gowanda, NY, he was the son of Dorothy Dewey and the late Merris H. Case. Dexter attended school in Gowanda and Cattaraugus, NY. After graduation, he was employed by the USDA Soil Conservation Service (SCS) for 35 years. He served as an Engineering Technician and Construction Inspector in the State of New York from 1962 until 1986, when he transferred to Chester, PA to Head of the Drafting Section of the SCS Regional Design Unit. He also served as Technical Quality Management and Regional Computer Aided Drafting Coordinators at the Chester office from 1986 until 1995. He completed his career as National Computer Aided Drafting Coordinator at the Beltsville, MD office of the SCS where he retired in 1997. He has been a part time employee at the Blue Heron Golf course during his retirement years. He enjoyed golf, the sunsets and living on the Chesapeake Bay. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Phoenix Lodge No. 0262 in Gowanda, NY. Dexter touched many hearts with his great sense of humor, his love of life and his ability to see the unique beauty in everything and everyone around him. In addition to his mother, Dorothy Dewey of New York, he is survived by his wife Jeanne; a son, Dexter “Randy” Case, Jr. of New York; a daughter, Michele A. Case of New York; Three stepsons, Jeff Hagen of Pennsylvania, Steve Hagen of California and Larry Hagen of Delaware; a sister, Roberta Johnston of New York; seven grandchildren, Stephen Case, Whitney Hannah Case, Haley Wynne Case, David Case, Jacob May Case, Grant Hagen and Caroline Hagen. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 16, 2003 at 11:00 AM in the Old Wye Church, Wye Mills, MD. Friends and family may call Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P. A. in Chester, MD from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Interment will be held Friday, October 17, 2003 at 11:00 AM in Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society-Maryland Chapter, 8600 LaSalle Road, Chester Building, Suite 314, Baltimore, MD 21286-2011.
