Dawn Denny

Dawn Marie Walden Denny, 38, died at her home in Stevensville on August 13, 2006 after a long illness. Born June 10, 1968 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Robert F. Shortt and of the late Rhea Madeline Walden of Catonsville, and was raised by her maternal mother’s sister, Verona M. Biller of Baltimore, with her brothers, Joshua S. Biller of Elkton and Eric D. Walden of Chester. In 1980 Mrs. Denny moved to Chester, graduated from Queen Anne’s County High School in 1968 and from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Visual and Performing Arts in 1990. On January 30, 1993 she married Richard C. Denny, of Stevensville, in Catonsville. Mrs. Denny was employed in the billing department at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis. She was a loving wife and devoted mother, a Girl Scout Leader of three Troops in Queen Anne’s County, she loved to read, garden, and spend time with her family. Mrs. Denny is survived by her husband of 13 years, Richard C. Denny; her daughters, Rheanne Marie Denny and Rebecca Jo Denny; her son, Henry Walter Denny, all of Stevensville; her father and step-mother, Robert F. and Virginia Shortt of Catonsville; her maternal mother’s sister, Verona M. Biller of Baltimore; her sisters, Tammy L. Anderson and Ginny A. Kolbe of Catonsville, Dee Mihalko of Dundalk, Diane T. Wooten of Lansdowne; her brothers, Joshua S. Biller of Elkton, Michael K. Shortt of Lansdowne, Robert B. Shortt of Waldorf, Eric D. Walden of Chester; her aunts and uncles, Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher Jackson and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Raglin of Baltimore, Mr. James E. Shortt of Hampstead, Mr. and Mrs. William E. Shortt of Hanover, PA, Mr. George R. Walden of Deltaville, VA; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Ian W. Denny in 1998. Visitations will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 from 6-8pm and on Wednesday, August 16, 2006 from 2-4pm at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P. A., 106 Shamrock Rd., Chester, MD 21619. A memorial service will be held at the Kent Island United Methodist Church, Chester, MD on Thursday, August 17, 2006 at 11am. Interment will follow in Stevensville Cemetery.
