Daniel R. Crawford Sr.

Daniel Ready Crawford passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026 at The Compass Regional House in Centreville, Maryland. He was surrounded by his loving family the whole time that he was ill. He was born in Takoma Park, Md. on February 29, 1940 but because it was a leap year his birthday was officially changed to March 1, 1940. He was the son of the late William and Frances Ready Crawford. Danny attended school in Prince Georges Co and later became an Electrician for over 40 years with Reed Electric Company in Washington, DC. He married the love of his life Carol Robey on Nov. 5th, 1960. They had 3 children who became very quickly the focus of their life. Danny loved to laugh, make others laugh and tell jokes. That is why Seinfeld became his very favorite show of all time. Danny was a man of few words but the words that did come out were heartfelt and usually funny. He loved to travel with his wife Carol and he would always say that his very favorite spots were a toss up between Hawaii and Las Vegas. He loved to play the slot machines. He never won big but he didn’t care. It was all in fun. His favorite thing in life was spending time with his family. He loved being with all of his children and their families. He loved crab feasts and big Christmas celebrations. He also loved to fish and for years he was in a bowling league with his wife and close friends. He loved watermelon and loved trying to grow them. Most of all he was an amazing father. He was gentle and kind and always present. He will be greatly missed. Danny is survived by his three children: Danielle (Don) Wilson of Centreville, Md. Deena (Tony) Settineri of Pasadena, Md. and Daniel Crawford Jr. of Hollywood, Md. Eight grandchildren: Evan Wilson (Kate), Benjamin Wilson (Kristine), Cassidy Wilson (Tiffany), Baylee Wilson, Jessica Settineri (Matthew), Nathaniel Settineri, Justin Crawford (Rachel) and Bethany Crawford : seven great-grandchildren: Ellie, Everett and Penelope Wilson, Graham Wilson, Amir Jones, McKenna and Maverick Crawford: Sister Betty Boston, Brother in Law Tony Robey (Lynn) sister in laws Kathy Robey and Brenda McCrea. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Carol, brothers Billy, Bobby and Raymond Crawford, brother in laws George and Bill Robey and daughter in law Susan Crawford. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 23rd at 2pm with a gathering being held from 1:30-2pm at Fellows Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 408 South Liberty Street, Centreville MD 21617. Burial will immediately follow the service at Chesterfield Cemetery.
