Charles Robert Lyons Jr.

Charles R. Lyons, Jr passed away on January 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, dedicated caregiver, and nurse of Talbot Hospice. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was 91. He was born in Easton, MD on October 28, 1932. He grew up in Easton where his happiest memories were on his grandparents’ farm. He graduated from Easton High School class of 1949. On January 21, 1951, Charles married Dorothy Ellen Sullivan of Trappe, Maryland. They moved in January 1952 to a farm on Dutchman’s Lane where they raised their family. There was nothing more important to him than his family. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They were the biggest part of his life. Charles spent his life farming and logging with his sons. He also appreciated taking road trips and reading. There was nothing Charles liked better than an interesting conversation with a new or old friend. Charles could have an engaging conversation with anyone. Charles was a member of the Episcopal and Brethren Church. He served as President on Talbot County Forestry Board for 8 years, past Chairman Southern States Easton Corporation, past Chairman Southern States Talbot Petroleum Corporative, Director for 8 years Talbot County Farm Bureau, past Chairman Tri County Crop Association, Director and past President two terms Crop Improvement Association, Director and past President two terms Maryland Forest Association, a member of Talbot County Marketing Club and Easton Elks Lodge #1622. He is survived by his eight children, Cherelyn Gray (Mike), Kent Lyons (Donna), Pamela Kennedy (Bo), Jeffrey Lyons (Mandy), Timothy Lyons (Tracy), Tracy Lyons (Janet), Kevin Lyons (Lisa), Karen Lyons; eighteen grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his great-grandson, Landon Smith; his wife of 47 years, Dorothy, who passed away May 12, 1998, and his parents. Friends may call January 24, 2024, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Saints Peter and Paul Church, Easton. Services will be held January 25, 2024, 11 am at Saints Peter and Paul Church Easton. Paster Bobbie Davis will officiate. A private interment with immediate family will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Easton Volunteer Fire Company or Talbot Hospice.
