Carl "Ray" Vermillion

Carl “Ray” Vermillion of Queen Anne, MD, died at his home on June 7, 2015. He was 77. Born in Pasadena, MD, on May 6, 1938, he was the son of the late Pellman A. Vermillion and Evelyn G. Lowman. Mr. Vermillion served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1957. He served a four year apprenticeship to become a Millwright and retired from local union #1548 of Baltimore. He relocated his family to Queen Anne’s County in the mid 1970's when he purchased a small farm outside Centreville. Some of Ray's interests included horseback riding with his daughter, viewing classic cars, watching Western movies, and listening to classic country music. He was a member of the Seaford Harley group, and enjoyed going for rides with his wife, Rose. He was an 32° Master Mason member of Adherence Lodge #88 Baltimore Maryland, and a member of Boumi Temple Shriners. He proudly introduced his daughter and granddaughter into Job’s Daughters. Ray was a "one of a kind" wonderful man who had a sense of humor. He was an avid story teller, loved to "supervise," had a way with animals, and a deep love for life. He is survived by his loving wife, Rose Marie Vermillion; his children, Michael Ray Vermillion (Cathy) of Dover, DE, Robert Allen Vermillion of Baltimore, MD, and Kristy Lynn Vermillion-Winborne (John) of Barclay, MD; stepchildren, Bruce Allen Lusby of Baltimore, Dawn Marie Sprinkle of Abingdon, MD, and James Charles Lusby of Baltimore; eight grandchildren, April Dawn Vermillion-Lucas (Michael), Brian Matthew Vermillion, Hayden Matthew Winborne, Kolby Lynn Winborne, Heather Rochelle Thomas and her children, Brittany Lynn Thomas, Brooke Nicole Sprinkle and Bradley Charles Sprinkle; great-grandchildren, Lindsay Marie Lucas and Luke Lucas; and a sister, Esther M. Moore of Glen Burnie, MD. He was also survived by his beloved dog companion, Missy. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Carson Vermillion and Vernon Vermillion. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 12, at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Centreville, MD, where friends and family may visit on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be held at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Glen Burnie, MD, on Friday at 2 p.m.
