Annice E. Fike

Annice E. Fike died on January 26, 2011 at the Talbot Hopsice House. She was 92 years old. Born in Ridgely on August 11, 1918, she was the daughter of the late, Paul S. and Lillie Cohee Ebling. On October 30, 1938, she married Norman J. Fike. Together they operated Richland Orchard, a large-scale orchard farm in Talbot County, for 40 years. Mrs. Fike generously volunteered for many organizations. She was a 4-H club leader for 14 years, and earned a National 4-H Alumni Recognition Certificate. She was a member of the Talbot Homemakers and the Memorial Hospital Junior Auxiliary. She was a 20-year member of Gideon International, and spent 40 years working with the Association of Women with the Farm Bureau. Mrs. Fike was the Director of Christian Education in her local and district congregations, and served as the director of outdoor education in church-related camping for young people. She served on the Bethany House Board of Directors for 10 years and was both a past President of the Board and Secretary. She also volunteered for the Red Cross for 15 years. Mrs. Fike hosted a German exchange student, as well as several foreign students at the University of Maryland for holiday vacation days. Together with her husband and family, she sponsored 2 refugee families, who lived in their home. Along with her husband, Mrs. Fike toured several countries in the South Pacific on a People to People agricultural tour. She is survived by her children, Norma Trax and her husband, John, of Easton, Samuel Kenneth Fike and his wife, Christine, of Cordova and Sallie Griswold and her husband, Jim, of Marathon, FL; her sisters, Betty Faulkner of Sudlersville and Mary Fries Haldeman of Mt. Joy, PA; her brother, Marvin Ebling of Ridgely; her grandchildren, Marci Bussey, Steve Trax, Christy Paul, Samuel K. Fike, Julie Reynolds and Kimberly LeCompte; and nine great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, who died on October 22, 2006, she was preceded in death by five brothers, one sister and two grandchildren, Robin Fike and Tina Reynolds. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 5 at the Easton Church of the Brethren.
