Virginia W. Pfeifer

Virginia Walker Pfeifer died on March 31, 2011. She was 85. Born in Washington, DC on May 3, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Robert Craighead Walker and Dorothy van der Veer Walker. She attended school in Scarsdale and Bronxville, New York. She continued her education and graduated from Dunbarton College of Holy Cross in 1947. On September 10, 1949, she married Joseph William Pfeifer and resided in Washington, DC until moving to Chevy Chase, Maryland in 1963. In 1996, Virginia and her husband moved to the Eastern Shore of Maryland, residing in Easton. Mrs. Pfeifer was a member of the Women’s Guild at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She enjoyed visits from her children and grandchildren, and traveling. She is survived by eleven children: Janet S. Crook and her husband Robert of Madison, CT, Mary V. Pfeifer of Kansas City, MO, Phillip H. Pfeifer and his wife Kari of Ringgold, GA, John B. Pfeifer and his wife Debby of Knoxville, MD, Robert F. Pfeifer and his wife Sheila of Olney, MD, Thomas A. Pfeifer and his wife Carla of Easton, MD, Katherine A. Lafleur and her husband Laurent of Clarksville, MD, Richard M. Pfeifer of Easton, MD, Margaret P. Yerger and her husband Robert of Sanatoga, PA, Patricia E. Hittinger and her husband Todd of San Antonio, TX, and Elisabeth A. Sunier and her husband William of Rockville, MD; two sisters, Anne W. Vonschilgen of Berlin, MD and Katherine E. Tenore of Pine Plains, NY; a sister-in-law, Margaret Walker of Berlin, MD; a daughter in-law, Lynda S. Pfeifer of Laurel, MD; 46 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph W. Pfeifer on March 23, 2005 and by her oldest son Joseph W. Pfeifer, Jr. on December 24, 2009. Friends may call at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Easton on Friday, April 8, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Easton. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Cordova.
