Raymond Edward Groht Jr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Raymond Edward Groht, Jr., 72, of Stevensville, MD passed away on December 14, 2021, at Tidal Health Care in Salisbury, MD. He was born on April 4, 1949, in Washington, D.C. the son of the late Raymond and Marjorie Otis Groht, Sr. Ray graduated from High Point High School, Class of 1967. Following graduation, he joined the National Guard and then went on to work for Local 602 Steamfitters Union. Ray was a member of Local 602 Heating, Piping, and Refrigeration for over 45 years. He loved his family and friends, had a huge heart, and always had room for one more in his home. He was always about making memories especially with his family and grandchildren. Ray was a big man in many ways. He was always having fun telling jokes and stories and his stories were always as big as he was! He was loved and cherished by so many and will be missed greatly! Ray is survived by his wife Gena of 46 years, his children; Jeffrey Campbell, Kim (Tony) Merlo, Chad Groht, his grandchildren; Larisa Groht, Colton Groht, Landon Merlo, Ethan Campbell, his great grandchildren; Ara LaDue, Juliet LaDue, Caleb LaDue, his siblings; Thomas (Leslie) Charles Groht, Sr., Marjorie ( late husband James “Bubba”) Ellen Keifline, Deborah (Bob) Groht Tinsley and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A visitation will be held at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home at 106 Shamrock Rd. Chester, MD 21619 on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, from 10 AM - 12 PM, with a service to follow at 12 PM. The service will also be live webcasted on the funeral home website at the time of the service. The burial will be immediately after the service, in Stevensville Cemetery. The family has requested that attendees be REQUIRED TO WEAR MASKS for the services.
