May 7, 1951 - July 17, 2021
Seaford: Leroy Edward Sayler left this world “his way” on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 70 years old. Born May 7, 1951 in Frederick, Maryland, he was the son of the late Carroll Edward Sayler and Mildred Moran Thorpe. He graduated from Seaford High School in 1969 and served proudly in the National Guard. He retired in 2015 after several decades as a Master Electrician at the Aqua Pool Company in Easton, Maryland. Retirement gave Leroy the chance to enjoy life to the fullest. He rode his Harley as long as he was able and spent most days enjoying his front porch to keep tabs on the happenings in his neighborhood. He particularly enjoyed the hummingbirds who visited each year and talking the ear off anyone who stopped by. His wit and one-of-a-kind sense of humor will be sorely missed. Leroy was a long time member of Alcoholics Anonymous and lived the Twelve Steps the best way he knew how for 32 years. He helped countless people achieve sobriety and could always be counted on to pick up the phone for anyone who needed an understanding ear. He is survived by his children: Sherry Glocker of Bridgeville, DE, Jaime Sayler of Seaford, and Keith Sayler of Bridgeville; grandchildren, Alyssa, Gabby, and Gary, (plus one still in the oven); two great-granddaughters; a sister, Terry Sayler of Frederick, MD; and many special friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Peggy Fischer and Elaine Flanary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the 12 and 12 Community Center at 1380 Middleford Road, Seaford, Delaware 19973. He requested that no traditional funeral service be held. To honor his wishes, a Celebration of Life Luau is planned for a later date and all who knew Leroy are welcome.
