Dean Dillion Sheaffer Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

On Saturday morning March 5, 2022, Dean Dillion Sheaffer of Stevensville, MD, a devoted and loving husband, and father passed away. He was 65. Born on November 1, 1956, in Washington, DC, he was the son of Everett D. and Mary Ruth Taylor Sheaffer. Dean grew up in Oxen Hill, MD and attended Oxen Hill High School where he was on the wrestling and both junior and varsity football teams. He attended Lincoln Technical Institute where he received his Certified Diesel Mechanic license. He worked for Stewart Petroleum in Washington, DC till he started working at American Van line driving a moving truck cross country for 2 years. Dean worked many part time jobs including numerous construction jobs, liquor store clerk, and a few summers at the Nation Arboretum in Washington, DC. Dean’s main profession was a Graphic Designer at The U.S. Senate Sergeant at Arms for 33 years and retired in 2013. He also owned and ran a home improvement company, D&J Services, for 16 years while simultaneously working at the Senate. Dean was a jack of all trades. Woodworking, electrical, plumbing, etc. He had an extreme passion to work on automobiles and to build anything with his own hands. He was a loving and caring husband, father, and friend. He enjoyed spending time with friends, going to new places, delicious food, learning to expand his knowledge and going to Ocean City, MD. Most of all he enjoyed spending time at home with his family. Dean touched and impacted many lives and will be terribly missed by his family and friends. Dean is survived by his wife of 36 years, Joann Sheaffer; son, Daniel Sheaffer; daughter, Kristianna Sheaffer; sister, Donna (Walter) Webb; brother, Wayne (Kathy Court) Mixdorf; brother-in-law, Robert (Mary) Piperni; nephews, Joseph Webb, Vincent Piperni, and nieces, Vicki Ross, and Lucy Piperni Olsavasky. Preceded in death by his father Everett D. (1999) & Mary Ruth Taylor (1985) Sheaffer. A visitation will be held at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home in Chester, MD on Friday, March 11, 2022, from 7PM to 9PM.
