Caroline Lieber Baldwin

March 15, 1958 - January 26, 2022

Caroline Lieber Baldwin of Chestertown, MD died on January 26, 2022 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. She was 63. Mrs. Baldwin was born in Fort Campbell, KY on March 15, 1958, the daughter of Albert C. (Hap) and Joan Lieber. She grew up a military brat, moving often. She graduated from Groveton High School in Alexandria, VA with the class of 1976. She then attended Colorado State University, where she received her bachelor's degree and was a member of ROTC. She joined the Army reserve and was proud of achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. She had a successful career in Construction Management with firms such as Metcalfe and Eddie, Bechtel, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, Jacobs Engineering and others. Aside from her favorite place, Piney Grove, the family farm in Chestertown, Maryland, where she enjoyed sitting with family on the porch, enjoying the view up the river, some of her favorite memories were of her time in Colorado, skiing, hiking, as well as fun visits with the cousins at the family Camp on Hinckley Reservoir in Remsen, NY, and traveling with her late husband, Tim. She led the effort to rejuvenate the family vineyard at Piney Grove and served on the board of the Port of Leonardtown Winery in St Mary’s County Maryland where she lived with husband, Tim, until her recent move to Piney Grove in Chestertown. She is survived by her brother, Chip Lieber (Jennifer); her sister, Jeramie Lieber Bruce (Neal); nephews and nieces, Emory, Riley, Joseph, Brook, Elizabeth, and Julia; six grand-nieces and nephews; as well as many loving cousins. A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 5 at 1:00 pm at St. Paul’s Church Cemetery in Chestertown. The family is planning a “Celebration for Caroline” at Piney Grove on April 23.
