Barry Sargent Weyburn
October 1, 1944 - January 27, 2022
Barry Weyburn died of mysterious complications in her home in Rock Hall on the evening of January 27th, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. Barry spent most of her childhood in Connecticut having wild adventures with her cousins, then studied art at Boston University for two years before running off to Mexico with an art model. After a year hitchhiking across Africa and another year living in northern India, she returned to the U.S., worked at the Library of Congress, and married her cousin’s husband, David Post. Together they built cement boats and sailed to far-off places, but returned to Massachusetts to build a cabin in the woods and become parents. For some years they worked together at a post-and-beam company, Barry as a draftsman and David building houses, though they spent their free time building schooners, and managed a year-long sailing adventure with their five-year-old daughter, Julie, down to the Bahamas and back. When the ice and snow of Massachusetts became too much for them, they sold their house and resumed life onboard, ending up in the Chesapeake Bay. They fell in love with Rock Hall, where David started a boat-building company and Barry worked at Breese Sailmakers. She is happy to join her husband in the Great Beyond, and is survived by her daughter Julie, her dog Tucker, and Possum the cat.
