William Earle Remsburg

William E. Remsburg "Bill", 82, passed away suddenly at his home in Chester, MD on Thursday, February 6th, 2025 Born on October 14, 1942, in Washington, DC to William and Margaret Remsburg. A lifelong Maryland resident, he served in the Maryland National Guard. He married Gretchen "Cookie" in May of 1982 which created a beautiful, blended family with four children. Bill raised his young family in Amber Meadows where he and his children gained lifelong friends. After living there for 37 years he and his wife followed his best friend and moved to Eastern Shore, finally fulfilling his dream of living on the water. He worked as an Accountant and retired from Washington Gas Light Company after over thre decades of service. He was a lover of all things Chesapeake Bay. He was an avid boater, spending time on the water crabbing, fishing or enjoying the views with his loved ones. He was a season ticket holder of his beloved Washington Redskins for decades and devoted fan of the Washington Capitals. Bill enjoyed hopping in his corvette with Cookie and hitting the casino. Since he always had a 4 legged companion waiting at home, he made sure to bring home some casino food scraps for his pups. He was an active community member and volunteer who enjoyed his time with the Elks Lodge. Bill volunteered with the local Boys and Girls Club when his children were young. He later volunteered a lot of time as a Reserve Officer for Maryland's Natural Resource Police along the waterways of the Chesapeake Bay. As a former Accountant he volunteered as a tax preparer for local senior citizens in community centers and assisted living facilities. His later years were spent time enjoying life as Papa. Entertaining grandchildren was a specialty, whether at the beach house in OC, a local swimming pool or Great Wolf Lodge, he loved creating fun memories. Survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Gretchen "Cookie" Remsburg; Daughter, Kristy Thomas ( JT); Grandchildren Zack Kimble (Samantha); Sierra Camp; Lindsey Camp, Chase Thomas and Great-Grandson, Owen Kimble and loving four legged friends Meeka and Charley. Preceded in death by his children Tracy Remsburg, Robby Remsburg, Stewart Camp, Jackie Keema and Great-Grandson Rory Kimble.
