William A. "Pat" Morse

William A. "Pat" Morse, 82, of St. Michaels, died on Saturday, December 21, 2013, at UMSMC in Easton. Pat was born in Pocomoke City, MD, on March 15, 1931, son of the late William King Morse and Beatrice Ward Morse. He was raised in Pocomoke City, and graduated from Pocomoke High School in 1949. After graduation, Pat attended Goldey-Beacom College. He was a retired banker, working many years for Maryland National Bank before finishing his banking career with The Talbot Bank. Pat was an avid golfer and one of the original members of the Harbourtowne Country Club. He boasts seven hole-in-ones to his record, including two on back-to-back days. Prior to his love of golf, Pat was a standout baseball pitcher, having played in the Eastern Shore Baseball League with a Class D team affiliated with the St. Louis Cardinals. He was elected to the Eastern Shore Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006. He was a long-time member of Miles River Yacht Club, serving in multiple capacities, including Commodore in 1975. In the seventies, Pat also sailed on the log canoe "Billie P. Hall." He was awarded the rank of Honored Service Member in 2006. Pat was also a member of the St. Michaels Rotary Club and Easton Elks Lodge. He enjoyed playing all games of cards, especially Bridge. Pat is survived by a brother, Bruce Morse of Annapolis, MD and four children, Michael P. Morse, and his wife Anne, Debra M. McQuaid, and her husband John, W. David Morse, and his wife Judy, all of Easton, and Ellen M. Kelly, and her husband Dave of Wilmington, DE. He was the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren: Megan, Brion, Julie and Tara Morse, Sam and Anna McQuaid all of Easton, and Mitchell and Lauren Soper of Calvert County, MD. Preceding his death was his wife of 56 years, Jean L. Morse. Pat is also survived by a host of friends, and hundreds of "Pat Morse" stories. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 27, 2013, from 6 – 8 p.m., at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., 200 S. Harrison St. in Easton. The family is honoring Pat's request to have a private service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Harold Baines Scholarship Fund, C/O Bay 100 Youth Task Force, P.O.
