William Bartholomy

William C. Bartholomy died at his home on Monday, March 30, 2009. He was 53. Born on August 12, 1955, in East St. Louis, Illinois he was the son of the late, George E. and Anita Wooters Bartholomy. He was a 1974 graduate of Easton High School and shortly thereafter entered the United States Navy. Mr. Bartholomy was assigned to the Electrical Branch of the Avionics Armament Division where he performed his duties as an electrician. During his service in the Navy, he was stationed at different locations, including Iceland and Sicily. He was honorably discharged in 1978 and served three years in the Naval Reserve. Following his release from active duty, Mr. Bartholomy returned to his life-long home in Cordova and began a 30 year career with the Westinghouse Corporation, now known as Northrop Grumman Corporation. He worked there as a Senior Electronic Lab Technician until February of this year. Bill also loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, crabbing or just spending time with his family whenever possible. He became interested in beekeeping, ultimately involving his wife and children and operated Bartholomy’s Bees for 17 years. He was a fixture at the Talbot County Fair and Pickering Creek Harvest Hoedown. Anyone that had attended either event over the past 13 years knew him as the "Bee Man" and there was always a crowd of children listening to him explain about the bees and watching the bees in the observation hive he always took with him. Bill was an active member of the Tri-County Ruritan club, having served one year as president and was installed as President for a second time in January of this year. Bill is survived by his wife of 26 years, the former Mary J. Krieger, whom he married on March 19, 1983; two children, William Christopher Bartholomy and Sarah Elizabeth Bartholomy, both of Cordova; a brother, Robert P. Bartholomy, of Columbia City, Indiana; two sisters, Georgia L. Shoemaker of Deland, Florida, and Debra H. Bartholomy-Rivera, of Puerto Rico; a special niece, Angie Roper, and her husband, Jeff, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two special great-nieces, Abby and Jackie Roper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George E. Bartholomy, Jr., and two sisters, Anita Diane Schlotzhauer and Linda Mae Curtis. Funeral services will be held at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Easton, Maryland, on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Easton, Maryland.
