Virginia "Ginnie" Klages Wible

Virginia (Ginnie) Klages Wible, 94 years young, passed away peacefully after brief complications from a stroke. Born on 12/27/1920, Virginia was the daughter of Frank and Helen Klages of Philadelphia. Ginnie graduated Cum Laude from Girls High School in Philadelphia and attended Moore College of Art, studying Textile Design. She married Donald J. Wible in 1942, and moved to Baltimore County. She had three children, Donald of Cat Spring, TX, Jeffrey of Towson, MD, and Patty Gregg of Los Altos, CA. She was the adored grandmother of six, and great-grandmother of three. In 1959, the family moved to St. Louis, MO. Ginnie was the consummate mother while raising children. When the nest was empty, she became a dressmaker, and demonstrated sewing techniques on a local TV station. Ginnie and Don retired to Chestertown, MD, in 1979. They enjoyed fishing, crabbing, and cruising on their boat. Ginnie loved tending to her garden and entertaining, and was a great cook. When she survived her husband in 1999, she continued to entertain, and took up lap swimming at the Washington College pool. The Adult Ed classes at the college were also very interesting and fun for her. Ginnie was an active member of St. Paul’s Church and Emmanuel Church. She was a member of the Federated Garden Club and helped plant the park. She volunteered with the children at Kart and the Sailing School at the Chester River Yacht Club. She has also worked for Hospice and the Hospital. In 2011, she achieved United Way of Kent County Volunteer of the Year Award for Character Counts!! for being outstanding as a teacher and role model for eight graders. In 2013, Ginnie moved to a retirement community near her daughter in Cupertino, CA. Although she missed her friends, she flourished in her new digs. She seemed to grow younger every day. She loved exercising with her buddies, singing with the boys, and getting gussied up every day—always adorned with pearls. Ginnie immersed herself in the daily activities, but always made time to finish the crossword puzzle and read. She also looked forward to her daily walks with her daughter—feeling the CA sunshine and admiring the west coast flora. Ginnie was the life of the party, always center stage, a one of a kind character—a hoot! She had a keen intellect and sense of humor. Ginnie truly had the gift of gab. The world has gotten a little quieter. We miss your laughter and hope you’re having fun.
