Thomas Richard Urso

Thomas Richard Urso, 84, of Easton, MD, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026, surrounded by family at Talbot Hospice. Born on December 24, 1941, in Philadelphia, PA, Tom was the beloved son of the late Mary O’Neill Wickland and Sam Urso. He grew up in Glenside, PA, attended St. Joe’s Prep and went on to graduate from Philadelphia College of Textile & Science. After graduating, he landed in North Carolina to work for American Enka which quickly led to a marketing & sales career with Celanese Fibers in New York City. During this time, he also served in Vietnam with the US Army. While in NYC he met his wife, JoAnn, when they were both working in the textile industry. They started their family and settled in Bronxville, NY. Changing careers, Tom began a successful run as a stock broker. In between work and family, he spent countless hours playing basketball on the New York Athletic Club Court and enjoyed weekends sailing out of the Yacht Club. Eventually it was time to escape to the country and that’s when, Tom, JoAnn and their girls found their forever home in Easton, on “the cove.” Tom is survived by his wife JoAnn, “the greatest lady in the world,” whom he loved deeply and with his whole heart. He was a proud father to daughters Meagan Flohr (Ron), Katie Biehn (John), and Betsy Urso. He was loved by his 3 grandchildren Spencer, Quinn, and Jack. He is also survived by his sister Linda Allen (Bob) and their children, and sister-in-law Mary Ellen Spencer. He was predeceased by his siblings Mimi and Ricky Urso. Throughout his life, Tom was known for his sense of humor and “talk to anyone” personality. His best days were spent traveling with JoAnn, coaching & watching his daughters play sports, and at the helm of a sailboat. He loved a “good deal,” coffee with a view, an open dance floor, and happy hour, aka Book Club. Tom leaves behind many wonderful memories with his family and friends. A funeral service will be held on September 3, 2026. Visitation begins at 10:30am, with mass to follow at 11am at Saints Peter & Paul Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Saints Peter & Paul Church and Talbot Hospice. Tom will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him. “Fly, Eagles Fly!
