Sue Ellen Coughlin

Sue Ellen Coughlin (63) of Stevensville died March 21, 2004 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center. She was the daughter of Lenita Spicer Garrett of Tequesta, FL and the late Glenn E. Garrett. She was born March 6, 1941 in Sand Fork, WV. She attended Sand Fork High School and graduated from Glenville High School in 1959. She received her degree in Elementary Education from Glenville State College in May 1963 and her Master''s Degree from Loyola College of Maryland. She was an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma. Mrs. Coughlin was married on May 25, 1963 to Arthur C. Coughlin, Jr. in Parkersburg, WV. After graduation from college, Mrs. Coughlin taught at Core Road Elementary and Gihon Elementary School in Parkersburg, WV and also Vienna Elementary School, Vienna, WV. Since 1980, she has taught at Kent Island Elementary School. Surviving are her loving husband of 41 years, Arthur C. Coughlin, Jr.; one son, Michael (Valerie) of Federalsburg; two daughters, Stephanie (Scott) Finn and Melissa (Harry) Oldfield of Bowie; three grandsons, Jonathan, Michael James and Benjamin Coughlin; one granddaughter, Catherine Marie Oldfield; two sisters, Patsy (Bill) Dawson of Celina, OH and Melba (Max) Marks of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. In addition, she will be sadly missed by brother-in-law Donald Huston, sisters-in-law Virginia (Dan) Gallagher, Mary Jane (Jack) Pettis of Parkersburg, and Joanie (James) Tomko of Aurora, OH and many loving nieces and nephews. Sue Ellen''s interests included spending time with her family, reading, gardening, traveling and playing the piano. Teaching first graders over the years was a special joy in her life and she will be greatly missed by her students and fellow educators. Funeral services will be held 11AM, Friday, March 26, 2004 at St. Christopher''s Catholic Church, Chester, MD. Friends and family may call Thursday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P. A., Chester, MD. Interment will follow in St. Peter''s Catholic Cemetery, Queenstown, MD.
