Shirley P. Hall

Shirley P. Hall of St. Michaels died at Memorial Hospital Easton on Sunday, December 26, 2004. She was 69. Born in Salisbury, MD on May 8, 1935 she was the daughter of the late James L. and Eva Applebaugh Powell. After graduating from Snow Hill High School in 1953, she attended Salisbury State Teachers College where she graduated with her Bachelors degree in 1957 and later received her Master’s degree in Education. In 1957, she married J. Robert Hall. Mrs. Hall taught Elementary school and served as a Pupil Personnel worker in Talbot County for over 30 years, retiring in 1996. Mr. Hall died on January 19, 1997. Mrs. Hall was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, St. Michaels where she served on the Altar Guild and was a Docent. She was also a member of the Rio Vista Community Association where she served as a board member, Ladies of the Elks B.P.O. 1622 of Easton, an honorary member of the Miles River Yacht Club and Talbot County Retired Teachers Association. She was very involved with her grandchildren including all of their academic and athletic activities. Mrs. Hall is survived by five daughters, Lynn H. Tyler and her husband Danny of Easton, Sharon T. Vitkun and her husband Cordell of Shady Side, MD, Deborah H. Barrett and her husband Don of McDaniel, Robin H. Landgraf and her husband Joe of Cordova, Sandy L. Eure and her husband Tim of Hebron, MD; thirteen grandchildren, Sean Lindsay, Shannon Linsday, Jeff Vitkun, Annie Barrett, Bonnie Barrett, K. J. Landgraf, Christina Landgraf, Cassie Eure, Corinne Eure, Zachery Eure, Jeremy Eure, Angie L. Morse and Danny Tyler Jr.; two great grandsons, Jeremy Morse, and Benjamin Morse, one sister-in-law, Anne R. Powell of St. Michaels, a niece Rebecca Gilbert and a nephew Richard Powell. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, James L. Powell Jr. and one grandson. A Memorial service will be held on Thursday December 30, 2004 at Christ Church, St. Michaels, MD at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family request contributions to The St. Michaels High School Athletic Fund, 200 Seymour Avenue, St. Michaels, MD 21663 or to the Christ Church Building Fund, P. O. Box S, St. Michaels, MD 21663. Arrangements are by Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P. A., Easton.
