Sharyn Goode Harlow

Sharyn Goode Harlow June 28, 1956 – October 5, 2025 It is with heavy hearts that we announce Sharyn Harlow, wife of Donald Harlow, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving husband, their children, her dear mother, and family on Sunday, October 5, 2025. Sharyn was born in New Orleans, LA on June 28, 1956, to Doris Greaver Goode and the late Henley Milton Goode Jr. She grew up in Staunton, VA where she was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church. Sharyn met the love of her life at Robert E. Lee High School, and it was as a truly classic union – the cheerleader and football player. She graduated in 1974 and in the fall set off to study at Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg, VA. Her heart won out though, and she and Don were married in December of 1974. They began their 50-year marriage in Brindisi, Italy where her husband was a United States Air Force service member stationed at San Vito dei Normanni Air Force Base. They lived in Italy for three years and ultimately made Maryland’s Eastern Shore their home for the past 38 years. Sharyn was active in her community and known and loved by so many. With her curly red hair and vibrant personality, she was unforgettable. Smart and hardworking, she had the tenacity and energy to accomplish anything she set her mind to. Her many talents led to a diverse professional career. She was a small business owner/operator of The Easy Way custom tailoring and alterations for many years, sewing many a dress for brides-to-be on the shore. In addition, she was especially proud of her work for the Reginald Truitt estate at Great Neck Farms on Kent Island and as a former member of the Queen Anne’s County Board of Education for District 4. Besides being a fabulous seamstress and gardener, she was an avid reader and follower of current events and loved collecting antiques and playing the slots. She was an extraordinary wife, mother, sister, and grandmommy. Sharyn is survived by her husband Don; son Anthony Harlow and his wife Jill of Plattsmouth, NE; daughter Julie Harlow Perozzi of Cambridge, MD; and her five grandchildren Lillian Harlow, Layne Harlow, Caden Perozzi, Paxten Perozzi, and Kaylee Perozzi who were everything to her. In addition, she is survived by her mother; sisters Karen DiFlorio and her husband Patrick of Staunton, VA and Linda Goode Gallimore of Spartanburg, SC; aunt Linda Greaver of Christiansburg, VA; and uncle and aunt Rex and Joyce Greaver of Staunton, VA; as well as brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dale and Cheryl Harlow of Chester, VA; sister-in-law Bonnie Harlow (husband Bill Harlow deceased) of Staunton, VA; and several nieces and nephews. A gathering to celebrate Sharyn’s life will be announced at a later date.
