Ruth Elizabeth Taylor

Ruth Elizabeth Taylor of Church Hill, MD. died at her home on Monday, June 14, 2004. She was 85. Born April 18, 1919, in Willoughby, MD, she was the daughter of the late John Jeffrey Mulligan Skinner and Susan Ethel Benson Skinner. She graduated from Tri-County High School in Queen Anne, MD, in 1936. On November 21, 1936, she married Joseph George Taylor, Sr. or Price, MD, and they began their life together on Cherry Blossom Farm that would last the rest of their lives.Happiest when she was with her husband, she and Joe worked together on their farm and enjoyed traveling with friends. Joseph Taylor, Sr. preceded her in death in 1995. She was an active member of Price Bethany United Methodist Churc where, among other roles, she was former President of United Methodist Women. She took pride in her home and her family. She was known locally for making her wonderful apple dumplings and white potato pies which were always popular at community bake sales. Mrs. Taylor is survived by her loving children; a son, Joseph George Taylor, Jr. of Church Hill; two daughters, Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Todd of Easton and Ruth Ann Hodgson of Annapolis, MD; a brother, Eugene Skinner of Wilmington, DE; two sisters, Esther Medinger and Gloria Dumel, both of Easton, MD; 9 grandchildren, Rebecca A. Sarni of Severn, Katherine T. Lowery of Easton, Mary Sue Brewer of Queen Anne, Norma Lee Todd of Columbia, Joseph G. Taylor, III, Wendy Taylor Burgess, both of Church Hill, Joshua C. Scott and Jesse T. Scott, both of Annapolis, and David Parks of Church Hill; and 15 great grandchildren; Taryn Patchett, Kylie Patchett, Todd Lowery, Taylor Lowery, Nicholas Schuyler, Morgan Schuyler, Brandon Brewer, Justin Harrell, Brian Buzbee, Julia Buzbee, Joseph G. Taylor IV, Britton Burgess, Greg Taylor, Ethan Parks, Emily Parks. Funeral services will be held at the Bethany United Methodist Church, in Price on Friday, June 18, 2004, at 11 AM. Friends and family may call at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., in Centreville on Thursday evening from 6 - 8 PM. Burial will be at Church Hill Cemetery, Church Hill, MD.
