Rosetta Spray Lins

Rosetta Spray Lins of Chestertown, MD, died on Monday, December 1, 2014, at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis. She was 74. Born on February 19, 1940, at Kent and Queen Anne’s Hospital in Chestertown, MD, she was the daughter of the late William Samuel and Martha Magrogan Spray. She grew up living on farms in the Chestertown and Worton area and graduated from Chestertown High School in 1958. She married Maurice R. Lins, Sr., of Chestertown on June 12, 1959. Mrs. Lins worked for H. Norman Grieb Real Estate, Anthony, Judge & Ware Accountants, and the Town of Chestertown as a secretary and bookkeeper. In her later years, she ran a daycare, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Mrs. Lins was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Parish, where she served as secretary for the Parish Council and served as secretary and chairman of the Parish Education Committee. She also served on the Finance Committee of Sacred Heart and taught Sunday school for 13 years at St. John’s Catholic Church in Rock Hall and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mrs. Lins also served as Chairperson of the St. John’s Bull Roast, where she attended. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Maurice R. Lins, Jr., and wife, Angel, of Chestertown and Jeffrey Allen Lins of Chestertown; two grandchildren, Amanda Nicole Lins Jacquette and husband Gerald “Buck” of Rock Hall, and Audra Rachel Lins of Hamden, CT; a great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Mae Jacquette; two brothers, William S. Spray of Rock Hall and James T. Spray of Ellendale, DE; and three sisters, Eileen Carnie of NV, Ann Newsome of Worton and Margaret Kimble of Centreville. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Spray, and a sister, Mary Bigelow. Rosetta was a devout parishioner of St. John’s Catholic Church. She opened her home to many neighboring children who she fed and loved as her own. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014, at 11:00 am at St. John's Catholic Church Rock Hall, MD. A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, MD, where the rosary will be recited at 8pm. Interment will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John’s Catholic Churc,h 508 High St., Chestertown, Maryland 21620.
