Ronald David Demby

Ronald David Demby of Chestertown, MD. Affectionately known as Ronnie or RD to those who knew him, He departed his life on January 31, 2026 at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore MD, Ronnie was 71. Ronald was born Jan 5, 1955, in Church Hill, MD the son of the late Joseph Wilson and Anna “Demby”. He went to Kennard Elementary School, Centreville Middle School, then River View Middle School in Denton and North Caroline High School where he entered the Job Corp. Ronald started working in Virginia as an electrician. In 1978 he moved to California where he worked several places, including Dahasi, John Stewart Co., and Oakland Housing Authority until he moved back home in 1994. He married his wife, Cheryl Demby April 9, 2000, soon after the two started “Spirit Connection” a transportation company they operated together for 4 years. Ronald enjoyed playing music with a number of groups including “The Pilgram Travelers”, reading watching old westerns and sharing his love for the Lord. In addition to his parent’s, he was preceded in death by one brother, George Thornton “West” one son, Arthur Jones “AJ” and sister Sandra Green. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Demby of Chestertown, MD, his daughter, Tiwanna Gathers (Paule) of Millersville, MD, three sons, Mishaad Jones of Chestertown, MD Keenon Demby of New Mexico, Hakeem Demby of California, three sisters, Mable Bratcher of Odenton, MD, Wanda Taylor of Queen Anne’s, MD, Barbara Demby of Columbia, MD, four brothers, William Demby (Toni) of Mitchelville, MD, Norman Penn of Columbia, MD, Joseph Wilson (Brittany) of Baltimore, MD and twin brother, Donald Demby (Janice) of Queen Anne’s, MD, step mother, Kim Wilson of Baltimore, MD, ten grandchildren, Haley, Halia, Haniah, Halina, Haelyn, Aniah, Tyler, Nehamiah, Amari, Oakland, god child, Danae Phillips, in laws; one mother in law Christine Harris of Chestertown, MD, who he would call her Mother Dear, and sister in law “Dee Dee” (Dewayne) Phillips of Dover DE., special friends Michael and Deborah Brown of CA and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 9am- 11am at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home 130 Speer Rd Chestertown, MD. Services will begin at 11am. Interment will be held in Roseville Cemetery Centreville, MD.
