Robert Rowe Burlingame

Robert “Bob” Rowe Burlingame, age 93, of Kent Island, MD, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2023, while surrounded by his family. Bob was born in 1930 in Washington, DC. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Elsie (née Rowe) Burlingame, and his older brother, William “Lefty” Burlingame, Jr. In addition to his sister-in-law, Doris Burlingame of Silver Spring, MD; Bob is survived by his four children, Lori Mann of Kent Island, MD, Amy Burlingame of Davidson, NC, Robert M. Burlingame of Milford, DE, and Anne Rogers (husband George) of Kent Island, MD. Bob was known lovingly by his ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren as “Gpaw,” “Grandpaw,” and “Gramps.” The grandchildren include Melissa, Mallori, Michael (fiancée Kati), Amanda (husband Jack), Heather (fiancé Brian), Shelby, Marcelino, Salvador, William, and Patrick. His great-grandchildren are Austin, Lacey, Cody, Zoe, and Kaylee. Bob served his country as a corporal in the United States Marine Corps. He fought in the Korean War and received the Korean Service Medal with Three Stars and the United Nations Service Medal. After his time in the service, Bob worked for the American Red Cross, most notably while living in Puerto Rico and Key West. He also worked as a VP of Sales for Sonco Fence for many years until retirement. Bob was a lover of the outdoors, social time, sports, and traveling the world. His favorite teams included the Washington Redskins, Baltimore Orioles, and Maryland Terps. He was an usher at St. Matthias, coach of his daughters’ softball teams, chauffeur for his granddaughters, and grocery shopping connoisseur. Bob was also a member of the American Legion and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11 am on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Saint Christopher’s Catholic Church, 1861 Harbor Dr, Chester, MD 21619. Visitation will begin at 10 am.
