Richard Ross

Richard Gustva Ross (Dick Ross) passed away at the age of 78 years old June 3, 2020, at the Kent County Hospice Center in Chestertown, MD, to join his beloved wife, Catherine Ross (Cass). He was born on August 2, 1941, in Baltimore, MD, to the late Donald C Ross and Vera V Ross. Richard was the loving father of Teresa M Brown and her husband, Martin Brown, and cherished grandfather of Martin and Krista Brown. He will also be greatly missed by his nephew Bobby Towles and his wife Leesa Towles. He is also survived by other loving family and friends. Richard studied music at The Peabody Institute in Baltimore, MD. He had an amazing voice. and he loved to sing for family and friends at gatherings. At a young age, Richard sang with his mother who played the piano at church. His mother was a very talented musician; she played the piano at Carnegie Hall in New York. As he grew older, Richard could replicate the voices of Elvis, Dean Martin, and Frank Sinatra singing many of their favorite hits. In addition, he took night classes in business at Towson State located in Baltimore, MD. Richard spent many of his years in the Baltimore area working in management in the trucking and railroad industry. After his retirement, he and his wife moved to Oceans Pines, MD, to fulfill a lifelong dream of theirs to live at the beach. Growing up, Richard was a member of Police Athletic League in Baltimore as a boxer. In his mid to late 30s, he was a successfully bowler and pool player. He loved to surf-fish at Assateague and Ocean City, MD. Those who spent time with Rich knew he had a very ornery side along with a great sense of humor. He enjoyed setting people up for practical jokes. Richard greatly loved watching movies with his grandchildren. But most of all, he loved spending time with his wife, his family and his belated late brother Walt. He is survived by his daughter ,Teresa M Brown, and her husband, Martin A Brown; and two grandchildren, Martin A Brown II and Krista Catherine Brown. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
