Rex Milton Case III

Rex Milton Case III, known as “Pop” to many, of Chester, Maryland, passed away very suddenly on October 16, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on February 14, 1955, in Washington, D.C. and spending the majority of his life in Bowie, Maryland, Rex brought warmth, laughter, and music to everyone who knew him. Rex shared 40 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Lelia “Dianne” Case (née Johnson), whom he married on August 31, 1985. Together they built a life filled with love and friendship. Rex proudly served his country as a U.S. Army Veteran, where he was a Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. Following his military service, he built a long and successful career as an Operating Engineer, working with several companies throughout his life—the last being with Prince George’s County. His work ethic, dedication, and skill earned the respect of his colleagues and friends alike. A lifelong enthusiast of motorcycles, Rex loved the open road and the sense of freedom it brought him. He was also a gifted musician and proud member of the band “South River,” where his passion for music came alive. His easygoing nature, humor, and generous spirit earned him countless friends who will forever cherish his memory. Beyond his love of music and motorcycles, Rex had a special place in his heart for dogs. He shared his life with many loyal companions over the years (most recently Kansas & Callie), each one bringing him joy, comfort, and laughter. Rex is survived by his devoted wife Dianne Case; his son Rex Case IV (Michelle); his mother Lois Beckett; his brother Norman Beckett; and his granddaughters Layla Case & Hayley Case. He is preceded in death by his father, Rex Milton Case, Jr. He is lovingly remembered by his stepson Richard Cannatella (Angelina), step-granddaughter Marissa Cannatella, and step great-grandson Weston. Rex also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and a wide circle of friends who will miss his kind heart and joyful presence. Rex’s life was filled with music, friendship, and family. His memory will live on through the songs he played, the stories he shared, and the love he gave so freely. A private remembrance will be held by the family, with the possibility of a public celebration of life at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you remember Rex in your own way — through music, friendship, and love for the open road.
