Rebecca M. Callahan

Rebecca M. Callahan passed away in Missoula, Montana on Dec 3, 2008. She was 41. Born in Easton, MD on August 10, 1967, she was the daughter of Margaret Callahan-Palazzolo and the late Lawrence Callahan. Rebecca attended The Country School and Sts Peter and Paul Catholic School in Easton and finally The Benedictine School in Ridgley, MD, where she graduated in 1989. She worked the last 19 years at the Benedictine Industrial Training Center. Rebecca’s passion was her family, especially her nephews, nieces, great nieces, god-son, and god- mother. Rebecca loved both traveling to visit family as well as local get togethers with her many aunts, uncles, and cousins.The many people she greeted with her warm smile and comforting hug will remember her sincere kindness and infectious joy. We can all learn from her many simple yet profound mottos like “You can only do the ‘bestest’ that you can do” and “ Everyone always has to be so nice and kind to each other”. She was a member of the St Benedict’s/ St Elizabeth’s Catholic Church and a member of the Oblates of St Benedict’s at St. Gertrude’s Monastery. Rebecca was blessed in her life by the friendship and love of both her father Lawrence Callahan and, in her final years, by her step-father Richard Palazzolo. She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Callahan; her god-father, George Young; her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Atkinson; and her paternal grandparents, Mr. And Mrs. Lawrence M. Callahan Rebecca is survived by her loving mother, Margaret Callahan-Palazzolo and step-father Richard Palazzolo; two sisters, Teresa Hulseman and her husband George of Asheville, NC and Jenifer Callahan and her husband John of Hamilton, MT; three brothers, Paul Callahan and his wife Lynn of Missoula, MT, Mark Callahan and his wife Dana of Easton, and Timothy Callahan of Fort Worth, TX; her god-son, Ned Hulseman, god-mother, Anne Rampolla, and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces. Friends may call at the Fellows, Helfenbein, & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Easton, MD on Sunday, December 7, 2008 from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 8, 2008 at 10:00 AM at St. Gertrude’s Monastery 14259 Benedictine Lane at the Benedictine School in Ridgely. A reception and celebration of her life will follow. Burial will be the same day at 3:30 PM at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Queenstown, Md.
