Phillip J. Davidson

Phillip "Buddy” Jackson Davidson of Grasonville, MD, died November 30, 2016, at home. He was 81. Born on July 24, 1935, in Stevensville, MD, he was the son of the late Philip Thomas Davidson, Sr., and Pauline Jackson Davidson. Jack grew up on Kent Island and was an All Star athlete at Stevensville High School in soccer, basketball, and baseball. Also during his formative years, he worked collecting milk from the local dairy farms and during the summers he would catch the ferry to Sandy Point where he was a life guard. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Army, where he did his basic training and jump school with the 101st Airborne. He then served with the 11th and 82nd Airborne from 1953 to 1961. Returning home to Stevensville, he worked in many vocations over the years that included family farming, shipping and receiving management at Crownsville State Hospital and Britt's department store, bar management at The Yachtsman Castle Marina, The Poseidon Inn, and Dezi's Old Cove Inn, landscaping, clamming, marine construction, oystering and manager at Con-Agra until the Queenstown plant closed. He ended his working career at Tri Gas and Oil and would retire in 2005. He grew up with a love of trapping, fishing and waterfowl hunting which continued throughout his life. Phil was a well-rounded man who loved looking for the prime "pick" and to the end maintained a green thumb in the garden. He is survived by his five children, E. Michelle Salb (James) of Lincoln, DE; Jackie Benton (Robert) of Stevensville, MD, Ruthie Baker (Keith) of Stevensville, MD, Patty Davidson of Queenstown, MD, and Phillip J. Davidson, II (Erin) of Queenstown, MD; sister, Louise Price of Stevensville, MD; and brothers, Harry Mitchell Davidson of Chester, MD, and Philip T. Davidson Jr. of Denton, MD; and great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother John Fountain Davidson Sr., sister Phyllis Davidson Pippin, and beloved Lab, Jackson. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday December 7, 2016, at 3PM, at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, PA in Chester, MD. Where family and friends may visit one hour before.
