Patricia Marlene Mead, 86, of Ridgley, Maryland Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Friend 10/12/1938 – 07/24/2025 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patricia Marlene Mead, who departed this life on July 24, 2025, at the age of 86. A cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Patricia touched the lives of all who knew her with her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering kindness. Born in Granville, NY, Patricia was the cherished daughter of the late Ghaland E. Stewart and Elsie G. Hall and (Lawrence Duel). On August 19, 1956, Patty married the love of her life Paul. They met through Patty’s friend Ann Crandell, and after a first date at the movies, it didn’t take long for their hearts to know—they were married just ten months later. During their 68-year marriage together, they built a life rooted in faith, love, and laughter. Patricia moved from New York to Maryland in 1964 with her husband (Paul) and three children. When they retired in 1989, they moved to Henderson, North Carolina where they lived for over 30 years and made some lifelong friends. In 2023 they moved back to Maryland where they lived their last few years happy with their family. Patricia was proud to be a stay-at-home wife & mother, she worked part-time at the Little Red Schoolhouse in Bowie, MD, was extremely involved in the church, loved to sing with her late husband Paul, played the piano, autoharp. Above all, she took the greatest joy in her family, whose accomplishments and happiness were her proudest legacy. Patricia will be dearly missed by all who knew her—for her heart, her humor, and the steady way she loved everyone. Preceded in death by her husband Paul Ernest Mead, son Lance Paul Mead, and Valerie Marlene Haines. Survived by her son Lawrence Arthur Mead (wife Lorrie) of Centreville, MD, son-in-law Brian Haines of Ridgley, MD, 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Mead, Lisa Wilkens, Jerrod Waite, Kelsey Waite and Jacob Waite. Also, 5 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 10am - 12pm at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newman Funeral Home, 408 S. Liberty Street, Centreville, MD 21617.
