Nobel Franklin Coppage

Noble Franklin Coppage of Church Hill, MD died on July 19, 2003 at his home. He was 66. Born in Church Hill, MD on November 26, 1936, he was the son of the late Benjamin L. and Gertrude Kimbles Coppage. He was a graduate of Centreville High School class of 1956 and Goldy Beacom Business School 1958. Mr. Coppage worked with Kingstown Tractor Company in Chestertown, MD and International Harvester in Manassas, VA. In July of 1960 he began working for the Maryland Comptrollers Office serving in many accounting based capacities. During this time he resided in Annapolis and in 1994 he moved back to Church Hill, MD. He continued to work with the Comptrollers office in Centreville, MD until he retired after 39 years in 1999. Mr. Coppage was very active as current treasurer and past president of the Coppage-Coppedge Family Association, he was a member of Church Hill United Methodist Church where he was charge treasurer, a member of Marvin Memorial United Methodist Church, the Centreville High School Alumni Association, Maryland Classified Employees Association, and Parents without Partners. He enjoyed working with and on computers. He also enjoyed photography, which was not only a hobby but also a sideline business. Mr. Coppage also collected Farmall Replica Tractors. Mr. Coppage is survived by three brothers and their wives: Arvel L. and his wife, Betty Coppage of Fort Myers, FL, William B. and his wife, Jane C. Coppage of Church Hill, MD and Marvin B. and his wife, Jane P. Coppage of Centreville, MD and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., 408 S. Liberty Street, Centreville, MD where relatives and friends may call on Wednesday July 23, 2003 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 P.M. Interment will be in Sudlersville Cemetery Sudlersville, MD. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Marvin Memorial Methodist Church, P.O. Box 202, Sudlersville, MD 21668 or Church Hill United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 6, Church Hill, MD 21623. Those serving as pallbearers are James P. Hastings, Kenneth L. Coppage, Donald L. Coppage, R. Alan Coppage, Charles H. Coppage, J. Benjamin Coppage, Marvin “Chip” Coppage, Jr. and David P. Coppage.
