Nancy Alice Brown

Nancy Alice (Thomas) Brown went home to be with the Lord on May 11, 2023. She was 79 years old. Born in Baltimore on October 30, 1943, Nancy was the third of six children to the late Donald and Margaret Thomas. She graduated from Brooklyn Park High School in 1961, where she was the leader of the Methodist youth group, student council president, and a cheerleader. In 1963, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard (Dick) Brown. For a brief time, she worked at a trucking company before she dedicated many years to staying home and raising sons David and Daniel while Dick worked as a Maryland State Trooper. As her sons grew older, Nancy went back to work for the National Security Agency (NSA), often traveling the globe for work assignments. Nancy retired from NSA in 1998 and, beginning in 1999, she and Dick enjoyed their retirement years being “snowbirds” on the Gulf Coast of Florida, where they spent many winters and always welcomed their family for visits. Nancy was devoted to her family, and she doted on her grandchildren. She was also a faithful servant of the Lord. Nancy had a deep faith, and she shared that faith with everyone with whom she came in contact. She was deeply involved in her home church of Trinity United Methodist Church, whether through volunteering, teaching Disciple Bible study, or leading prayer groups. She also preached on occasion at the church they attended in Florida in the pastor’s absence. Nancy never missed an opportunity to tell others about Jesus Christ! Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Dick; sons, Dave (Joann) and Dan (Robyn); grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Reagan, Zachary, and Dawson; as well as siblings, Don Thomas, David Thomas, Betty Freeland, and Gary Thomas. She was predeceased by a sister, Joan Randolph. A visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17 at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, PA, 106 Shamrock Rd., Chester, MD 21619. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 18 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1300 West St., Annapolis, MD 21401. Burial will follow the funeral at Glen Haven Memorial Park, 7231 Ritchie Hwy., Glen Burnie, MD 21061. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.
